Frequently Asked Questions
When can I drop off my fruit?
Fruit can be left at any time, any day of the week. If you’d like help unloading the fruit from your car, please come during working hours on a weekday (9-5 Monday to Friday).
Do I need to book apples in to the press?
No, not unless you have over 12 crates, in which case notice is needed. Please send us an email or give us a ring.
When and where can I collect my juice?
All juice collections can be made between 3-4:30pm, Monday to Friday, and Saturday morning 11-12pm. We are closed on Sundays.
How do I pay?
You can pay by Bank Transfer in advance to the Kimpton Apple Press, or pay by Debit Card upon arrival.
How much juice will my apples make?
It’s hard to estimate how much juice your apples will produce, as each variety is so different. However, as a really loose estimate, 1.5kg or 12 large apples makes about a bottle, and 50kg makes 35-40 bottles.
Do we really get our own apple juice back?
YES! We go to great lengths to ensure it is only your apples juice you get back!
Do you do different juices?
At the press, we can create many different variations of juice. Although we specialise in exquisite apple juice the press can also turn pears into juice. Strawberries, raspberries, or any fruit without a stone will also go into the belt press. If you'd like to make apple & raspberry bring your berries along.. that's one of our favourites!
Apparently you make an alcoholic drink (not cider)?
YES! We do! Have you tried Churchwarden's? If you're interested in making your apples into a 25%ABV alcoholic tipple please contact us immediately!
Unfortunately we do not make cider, although if you contact us directly we can hand your juice back unpasteurised, so you can ferment the brew into cider yourself. If you're keen to do this please let us know.
Do I have to give my label details before dropping off my fruit
YES! Please provide label (or non-label) requests in writing using our Label Page. Please be aware: labels cost 30p more per bottle (£3.10 per bottle with labels, £2.80 without). If we do not have a label choice on the day your juice is bottled unfortunately your juice will be delayed.
What is the smallest or largest quantities of apples you will press?
The smallest amount is a well filled wash basket. The largest.... a truck?!
Should I return old bottles after I have used them?
We do NOT except old bottles to be recycled, as we do not have the equipment to recycle to food standard levels.
Are there any additives?
When we press your fruit we add just a few drops of Vitamin C to give your juice stability. This stops the brown oxidisation tint you get when you peel fruit. Nothing else gets added! No sugar, no preservatives, no 'nasties' at all!
